Deleting your account

Last updated 28 August 2026

You can delete your Signoos account and its data yourself, at any time, without asking us. This page explains what deletion removes, what is kept and for how long, and how to start it — from the website or from the mobile app. Nothing on this page deletes anything: the deletion itself asks you to prove who you are, so it happens while you are signed in.

How to delete your account

Sign in at signoos.com/settings/profile and use Delete account at the bottom of the page. You will be asked to type your email address to confirm, and then to prove your identity — your password and, if you use two-factor authentication, a current code.

If you registered through GitHub and have never set a password, there is no password to ask for. You will be asked to re-confirm your identity with GitHub instead, within the last fifteen minutes, which still involves your second factor if you have one enrolled.

From the mobile app: open the You tab and choose Delete account. The app tells you what deletion costs and then hands you to the same page above. Deletion needs a credential the app deliberately never handles, which is why it finishes in a browser rather than on the phone.

What deletion does

In this order, and it is worth knowing the order:

  1. Every connected machine is signed out first. Command-line and editor credentials are revoked before anything is deleted. If even one of them cannot be revoked, the deletion stops and nothing is removed — you are told so, and your account still works. A long-lived credential belonging to an account that no longer exists could never be cleaned up afterwards, so we refuse rather than leave one behind.
  2. Every signed-in phone is signed out, under the same blocking rule and for the same reason.
  3. Projects you lead are archived and scheduled for permanent deletion (see below).
  4. You are removed from every other team you were a member of.
  5. Your account record and your sign-in identity are deleted last. Your email address, name, username, password credential, two-factor secret and recovery codes go with them.

If deletion cannot complete, it does not complete partially. You are told what stopped it, and your account is left exactly as it was.

Projects you lead

A project you lead is archived immediately and permanently deleted 30 days later, along with everything in it: its tasks, tickets, insights, AI review results, solver runs and patches, the mirrored copy of your repository, and the files held in storage. The window exists so that a deletion made in error can be raised with us before the data is gone. After it, the purge runs and the data cannot be recovered.

Your own GitHub repository is not touched. Signoos deletes its mirror and its own records. It does not delete, archive or modify anything in your repository, and it never has the ability to delete a repository at all.

Teams you were a member of

You are removed from every project you did not lead. Work you did there — tasks you were assigned, replies you wrote, commits attributed to your GitHub account — belongs to that project and stays with it, because it is that team’s record of its own work rather than your personal data alone. Your account no longer appears in the team.

What is kept, and for how long

A small amount survives deletion, and each item has a reason:

  • Security and application logs, under our hosting provider’s retention. These are how a compromise is investigated, including one affecting you.
  • Spent credential records, held as one-way hashes so that a replayed token is still recognised as a replay after the account is gone.
  • Anything we are legally required to retain.

The exact periods are in the retention section of the Privacy Policy, which is the single place they are written down.

If you cannot sign in

Deletion is irreversible, so it has to be asked for by someone who can prove the account is theirs. If you have lost access — no password, no second factor, no recovery code, no GitHub account — write to [email protected] from the address on the account. We will verify what we reasonably can before acting, and we will tell you what we did.

If you have already uninstalled the app and can still sign in, nothing changes: use the website link above. Uninstalling an app never deletes an account by itself, on any service — the account lives on the server, not on the phone.

Your other rights

Deletion is one of several rights you have over your data. Access, correction, export and objection are set out in Your rights in the Privacy Policy, together with how to exercise each of them and how quickly we answer.
